Lap of Luxury:  Carrie Bradshaw’s Cat-astrophe Averted

Carrie Bradshaw loved three things unconditionally: a sky-high heel, a Manhattan skyline, and a dress that made an entrance before she did.

On this particular Saturday afternoon, she was wrapped in exactly that kind of dress; an ethereal, pink chiffon number by Valentino, the kind that shimmered when she walked and practically begged to be twirled in Central Park. She was mid-typing a column when she heard it.

That unmistakable thump. The elegant prance of paws on hardwood. The purr before the pounce.

“Shoe,” she said slowly, eyeing her feline roommate, “don’t even think about it.”

But think about it, he did not. Shoe, a diva in fur who preferred vintage silk pillows and tuna tartare, leapt up onto her lap like it was his personal throne and immediately began kneading. With claws. On Valentino.

In a flurry of chiffon and panic, she froze. She loved Shoe, but she also loved her wardrobe. Was this what modern women were forced to choose between?  The kneading love of their purr-baby and fabric integrity?

And then she remembered.

Like any style-savvy purr-parent, Carrie turned to her newest obsession: the Knead-it Pad™ by Fluff & Boots. Designed with kneadable softness and claw protection in mind, it had already saved her armchair and her sanity. But today, it would save her dress.

She reached over and grabbed the one in Ballet Pink.  Sleek, subtle, and most importantly, lap-sized.

With the grace of someone adjusting a couture cape, she laid the pad across her lap like a runway-ready shield.

Shoe paused, intrigued. He sniffed. Then, with the approval of a feline fashion critic, he resumed kneading on the pad. The claws came out, but the chiffon was safe. Her dress remained untouched. Untorn. Unscathed.

Carrie beamed. She sipped her coffee. She kept typing. Shoe kept kneading.

Later that night, she told Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha the story over martinis.

“So you’re saying you wore a designer dress... and still let the cat knead you?”

Carrie gave a sly wink and smiled.  “What can I say? Love means compromise. And with the Knead-it Pad™ I don’t have to choose between Shoe and Chanel.”

Because when you live with love and claws, sometimes the best accessory...is for your cat.
